Brian Timoney’sYoung Actors’ Boot Camp for 12 to 17 Year OldsWho Are Serious About Acting24th – 26th July 2012A Message From Brian Timoney To Parents(There is a message further down for the young actors) If you are looking to enrol your young actor in a drama course, you need to read this first. Do any of the following apply to you?
If any of the above applies to you, then you’re in the right place and you should read the rest of this message. If it doesn’t, and you’re really looking for a ‘just for fun’ kids’ class, then this isn’t for you. The classes we offer are age-appropriate, but they are for young actors serious about acting and who are looking to develop an in-depth acting approach. Don’t get me wrong, we have a lot of fun as well as doing the serious acting work, but our emphasis is on delivering solid acting techniques and approaches to develop your young actor’s ability. It seems to me that there is a real lack of drama courses for this age group, who want high-quality professional acting training. Who Should Apply? We don’t expect your young actor to have lots of experience or indeed ability at this stage – just the burning desire to act. We can teach them the rest. I also feel that starting your young actor’s professional acting training at this age can have a profound effect later on. The Mozart EffectMany assume that Mozart had an inbuilt gift. What many don’t know was that Mozart’s father was a music teacher and started teaching Mozart music as a baby. The number of hours Mozart had practised would be unattainable to anyone starting at a normal age. Now I’m not saying that your young actor is the next acting equivalent of Mozart, but the point is, the earlier they learn, the more hours of practise they have, the higher the skill rate later on. Before I tell you more about our solution, I have a message for your budding actor. A Message From Brian Timoney To Young ActorsI know what it’s like: you love acting but there doesn’t seem to be a place to learn ‘proper’ acting. You’re just too young. The proper professional classes are reserved for the adults and you have to deal with the kids’ classes. But there is another very exciting option. Introducing Young Actors’ Boot CampThe Boot Camp is designed to provide in-depth acting technique and skills, delivered by my team of handpicked specialist acting coaches. IMPORTANT NOTE: All our teachers are Enhanced CRB checked and we hold full Public Liability Insurance. Method Acting Training – Many, if not all, of Hollywood’s acting elite use this approach to acting. We will introduce you to the approach. The emphasis is on developing your senses and imagination. Scene study – Being able to develop scenes and having a solid approach to dissecting them is vital for the actor. My specialist Method Acting coaches will work with you on developing a scene with a scene partner for a private viewing at the end of the week. Character development – As an actor, you need to know how to develop in-depth interesting characters. We will give you all the tools you need to create stand-out character performances. Relaxation – Being able to fully relax on stage or on set allows you to think and feel properly. We will show you a special Method relaxation technique used by the world’s top actors. Improvisation – This is one of the most important skills you need to develop as this will enable you to be completely real in scenes. Movement – You will work with my specialist movement coach on using your physicality to create characters plus it will open up your body to deal with the demands of professional acting training. Private viewing with Brian Timoney – I will be there on the first day to welcome you onto the course and then I will hand over to my specialist team.
