        Yes, I hated banking with a passion. I had to get out.

        See, in my spare time I was a “muso”, always hanging around and playing in bands. Nothing got me going faster than an opportunity to play on stage.

        Then, as fate has it so often, something happened that changed everything.

        Because, I was in a band that had no singer… and I drew the short straw to go for singing lessons with a coach who was an opera singer and also did am dram. Well, to cut a long story short, someone dropped out of playing Abanazzar (the baddie in Aladdin, the panto) and she started badgering me to take the part. Of course, I thought I was far too cool for this… but she wore me down.

        And was I ever glad she did, because I had the most amazing experience of my life on that stage. And I was hooked. I threw in the towel at the bank, moved to London to study acting… and the rest, as they say, is history.

        The moral of this story is I was doing a job my Mother wanted me to do, not one I wanted to do.

        Just like thousands, perhaps millions of other unhappy, unfulfi lled and frankly miserable people (maybe including YOU?) are doing now.
